First elected in 2011, aged 26, the youngest ever Scottish Government Minister and first from an ethnic minority background as Minister for External Affairs and International Development. Involved in community work, youth organisations and charity fundraising. Media spokesperson for Islamic Relief. Volunteer on community radio and a Glasgow charity providing food packages to homeless people and asylum seekers. Interests include external affairs and international development, justice and tackling mental health. A Celtic fan who enjoys watching and playing football, spending time with his family, travelling and motorcycling.
