Description:
Louise Welsh appeared on the literary scene with her debut novel The Cutting Room. Nominated for the Orange Prize for Fiction, it won the Creasey Dagger for best first crime novel. Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow, Louise was co-founder and director of the Empire Café, an exploration of Scotland's relationship with the North Atlantic slave trade. She has begun writing opera libretti with composer Stuart MacRae. Their latest opera, Anthropocene, premiered for Scottish Opera earlier this year. Here she selects five pieces of music that have particular resonance for her.
