Description:
Val McDermid, best known for her Wire in the Blood series which was adapted for television, published Broken Ground, 5th in the Karen Pirie series earlier this year. How The Dead Speak, 11th in the Tony Hill and Carol Jordan series arrives this month. Val was chair of the Wellcome Book Prize and has served as judge for both the Women's Prize for Fiction and the Man Booker Prize. She holds 6 honorary doctorates and is Honorary Fellow of St Hilda's College, Oxford. Here she selects five pieces of music that have particular resonance for her.
